Whatever Our Residents Need

From L to R: Tiffany Monroe, Leslie Thompson, Bob Speelman, Carina Miser

November 3, 2017
NOTE: This story comes from the blog of Bob Speelman, owner of Atlas Healthcare Solutions. Emerald Pointe is a proud member of the Atlas Healthcare Solutions team. Each week, Bob works as a nursing assistant in one of his facilities in order to better learn his company's motto of "Supporting Superior Care."

I had an amazing time yesterday at Emerald Pointe, our 64 bed facility in Barnesville, Ohio. The Emerald Pointe team is led by Licensed Nursing Home Administrator Leslie Thompson, and Director of Nursing Pamela Sulek. Leslie and Pam have an amazing team of caring employees that truly love what they do and all work together to make sure their residents are well taken care of and happy. Two of their team members that I got the privilege of working with yesterday were Carina Miser and Tiffany Monroe.

Carina has been at Emerald Pointe for four years. She’s worked in virtually every aspect of Emerald Pointe’s care team. She’s done activities, housekeeping, laundry, therapy, and now works as a state tested nursing assistant. Carina is in school at Zane State to become a medical assistant and will graduate in the spring of 2018. Her grandmother was a resident at Emerald Pointe, which was a motivator for her to pursue a career of caregiving at Emerald Pointe. For Carina, caregiving is a family affair. Her mother Dremmia oversees medical records, and both of her sister-in-laws and her brother’s girlfriend all work at Emerald Pointe, as well. Carina lives in Batesville with her husband, Brandon.

Tiffany has also been employed at Emerald Pointe for four years. She started in dietary, and now works in laundry, as well as picking up shifts as a nursing assistant. Tiffany lives in Somerton with the husband Coty, and they have a young daughter named Cydney.

Working with Carina was like being alongside someone directing traffic on an aircraft carrier. Carina was assigned the 200 hall, but everyone worked together throughout the facility. As they passed each other in the hall they would relay what different residents needed and making sure any and all call lights were answered, and that the residents were happy. Carina is an extremely smart and compassionate person, and we are lucky to have her on our Atlas team!

Tiffany is a true utility player. She iofficially works in laundry, but really is whatever the residents need her to be. She bounces from laundry to stna work happily. She’s the definition of a selfless team player. She is one of the kindest and most selfless people I’ve ever met. Her uniform should be a t-shirt that says, “Whatever it takes and Whatever is needed.” Because that is her attitude when it comes to making sure the resident at Emerald are given great care.

I left Emerald Pointe extremely encouraged that we have employees like this within our company. They are the ones who day-in and day-out make sure things get done. They do it for the residents and their fellow employees. That’s all the recognition that they need. They do it because they are good caring people, and our company is better because of who they are. Carina and Tiffany - thank you! I will never forget the love you bring to our residents at Emerald Pointe. Thank you for letting me be a part of something truly special!
